My Man Godfrey (1936) HOME
Can you buttle?  -  Carole Lombard
as Irene Bullock
1 2 3 H  Honorable Mention (Top 3 Comedy Classics Films)

The plot comes from Eric Hatch’s novel 1101 Park Avenue
The Irene Bullock character was actually based on Carol Lombard.
William Powell was 45 when he made this movie.

Carol Lombard’s performance is Screwball Comedy definitive, yet it’s also unique and refreshing even to this day.   William Powell is just perfect as Godfrey.

Frivolity and games of the idol rich lead to lessons learned and possibly love in a captivating mix.

Despite serious moments My Man Godfrey is primarily daffy with comical dialogue and a family whose amusing eccentricities are as common as breathing.
